The Birds of a Feather Trail Trot is the 3rd annual Thanksgiving Day trail run on November 27, 2025, at Briar Chapel in Chapel Hill, NC. The event stage is Great Meadow Park at Briar Chapel, 161 Salt Cedar Lane, Chapel Hill, NC 27516. Timed and untimed options are offered for both distances. Each timed race is limited to 200 entrants and the overall event maximum is 600 participants. PORCH Briar Chapel is the charity partner; the organizer will match 10% of funds collected.

Distances:

  • 2 Mile - 2.04 miles; 134' elevation gain.
  • 5K - 3.38 miles (5.4K); 217' elevation gain.

The 2 Mile course includes paved trail, grass, and smooth trail and is described as largely non-technical. The 5K course begins with a paved section then follows undulating double-track and flowy single-track with roots, rocks, and short hill climbs. Both courses start with just under half mile of pavement and may be run or walked as timed races or untimed fun runs. Race services include chip timing for timed races, one aid station on the 5K plus finish-area aid for both distances, medical support, professional timing and course marking, a race tee (navy frost adult and youth sizes), post-race pie, a FREE Kids Race for Treasure for ages 11 and under, age-group awards, contests, giveaways, and free race photos. Minimum ages: 5 for the 2M timed race and 6 for the 5K; rules apply for unaccompanied minors. Strollers allowed only on the 2 Mile fun run; pets are not permitted.
