BigSea Trails (WATER)
BigSea is the water-themed event in the Classic Element Trail Series, held on the Isle of Purbeck, Dorset. The event starts and finishes on the sand at Knoll Beach, Studland, and uses single-lap routes that pass coastal cliffs, hills and historic sites including Corfe Castle, Kimmeridge Bay, Chapmans Pool, Dancing Ledge, Durlston Castle and Old Harry Rocks.
Four distances are available:
- Half Marathon
- 18 Miles
- Marathon
- 54k Ultramarathon
Entries do not allow canicross. Race bibs are issued at registration and a bag drop tent is provided on the day. All runners must carry at least 500 ml of fluid; handheld soft flasks or hydration vests are permitted. Runners are advised to carry appropriate clothing for changeable weather and to download the GPX route file to a wearable device because markings can be tampered with.
Cut-off times are set by distance: Half Marathon and 18 Miles have a five hour cut off; Marathon and 54k have a nine hour cut off. Aid stations will be stocked with sweet and savoury snacks including vegan options, plus water and flat coke; the event operates as a cupless event. Precision Fuel & Hydration supplies PH 1000 electrolyte on course, and registered runners can collect two PFH gels at registration. Classic Element Trail Series T-shirts are available to pre-order and a Trees Not Tees option lets runners substitute a planted tree for a finisher medal.
