Day of the Dead Half Marathon Texas Parks Edition (Houston)

This event takes place at Kingdom Builders Center in Houston and offers multiple race options including an in person half marathon and a virtual half marathon. Distances run through park settings with lakes, trees, and mixed surfaces.

Course notes state paved trails are preferred but crushed granite and dirt paths may be used. Aid stations along the route provide water and assistance to participants. Packet pickup is offered 1.5 hours before the event and shirt orders are guaranteed only up to 10 days before the event.

Timing and awards are specified for each distance. The 5K, Quarter Marathon, and Half Marathon are chip timed. The Kids Dash and 1 Mile are not chip timed. Overall and masters winners receive trophies or recognition pins and standard age group pins are awarded across defined brackets.

A costume contest is held before the race with judging based on creativity and authenticity; a winner receives the Day of the Dead Best Costume Award and a prize package. After the event there is a rally tent with music, announcements, food, and finish line amenities. Volunteer options include a Volunteer then Run choice with a chip timed bib and finisher medal, and a Full Race Volunteer program that offers shirts, souvenir medals, VIP access, and a future race entry or a $20 pre paid digital gift card.
