Berryman 50 Mile and Marathon Trail Races
The Berryman Trail Races take place at Berryman Campground in the Mark Twain National Forest near Potosi, Missouri. The event uses a designated National Recreation Trail that forms an approximately 26.4 mile single-track loop. Runners may complete one loop for the Marathon or two loops for the 50 Mile (closer to 53 trail miles).
- 50 Mile (two loops, about 53 trail miles)
- Marathon (one loop, about 26.4 trail miles)
The loop is entirely forested and continuously hilly, with roughly 2,500 feet of elevation gain and loss per loop. The surface includes rocks and roots and several stream crossings; Brazil Creek is encountered at about mile 16 and again at mile 42 on the second loop. The course runs clockwise.
Aid stations are spaced approximately every 5 to 6 miles and provide sports drink, water, soda, and typical ultra snacks. The race is cupless; runners must carry a bottle or hydration pack. A reusable HydraPak SpeedCup is provided at packet pickup and aid stations will refill cups or offer self-serve coolers.
Logistics include packet pickup at the Berryman Campground pavilion, on-site primitive camping at Berryman and Brazil Creek on a first-come first-served basis, and a $5 day use fee per vehicle for the campground day use area. Parking guidance asks that vehicles park north of the campground entrance along the east side of Berryman Road and on one side only.
Registration rules state no refunds. Rollover credit is available if a runner withdraws before specified deadlines, and bib transfers and distance changes must be completed online by the stated cutoff. Race day registration is offered for a cash fee and the field is capped at 200 participants; race day registrants may not be guaranteed swag or medals.
The Marathon is designated as the 2026 RRCA Missouri State Championship and ITRA points are awarded for finishers: 3 ITRA points for the 50 Mile and 1 ITRA point for the Marathon. Finisher medals are awarded for one loop and two loops respectively. Additional awards include top overall placements, age group awards across multiple categories, and a final finisher recognition.
