Berryman 50 Mile and Marathon Trail Races

Potosi, United States • 16 May 2026

Event overview

The Berryman Trail Races take place on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at the Berryman Campground in the Mark Twain National Forest, between Steelville and Potosi, Missouri. The event offers the following distances:

  • Marathon (one loop)
  • 50 Mile (two loops)

The Berryman Trail is an approximately 26.4-mile single-track loop. The race direction is clockwise.

Course and logistics

Each loop is entirely forested and continuously hilly, with about 2,500 ft of elevation gain and loss per loop. The surface includes rocks and roots and several stream crossings. There are at least two locations where runners may get their feet wet near the Brazil Creek aid station (mile 16 and mile 42 on the second loop). Aid stations are placed roughly every 5 to 6 miles and provide Hylē sports drink, water, soda, and snacks. The event is cupless; runners are expected to carry a bottle or hydration pack.

Packet pick-up is at the Berryman Campground pavilion. Parking is limited; a $5 day use fee applies per vehicle with USFS self-pay envelopes. Primitive camping is available at Berryman (fee $15 per day) and limited free primitive camping at Brazil Creek on a first-come, first-served basis. Several nearby lodging options are listed by the organizer.

Finisher medals are awarded for completion of one loop (Marathon) and two loops (50 Mile). Overall and age-group awards are given. The 2026 edition awards ITRA points: 3 points for the 50 Mile and 1 point for the Marathon. Registration closes May 11. Registration policies state no refunds; rollover credit rules and bib-transfer procedures are specified by the organizer. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
