Beast of the Brazos - Waco, TX
The Beast of the Brazos Trail Run takes place in Cameron Park, Waco, in April as part of the Texas Legends Series. The event uses the park trails and offers multiple distance options on dirt and rocky single track terrain.
Distances offered include:
- 5K
- 10 mile
- 20 mile
- 50K
- 50 mile
- 10 mile RUCK
The course is the Cameron Park trail system with hilly terrain; the 10 mile loop shows about 1,200 ft of elevation gain. The listed location is Cameron Park Redwood Shelter. Historic average temperatures for the event range roughly between 54 and 74 degrees.
Event logistics note that this is a no cup race and that participants must carry a water carrying system with a 16 ounce minimum. RUCK participants have weight requirements based on body weight. A headlamp is required for the 50K and 50 mile events when it is dark outside.
Aid stations include a main aid station at miles 0 and 10, a Rinky Dinky aid station at mile 5.5, and Emmons Water Station at miles 3.1, 7.5 and 8. Aid stations provide hot and cold food, snacks, water, electrolytes, pickle juice and ice; separate water only stations are also listed. No drop bags will be shipped due to the short loop.
Awards and finisher items include a collectible finisher medal, a tri blend tee, first place trophies for each distance, a 10 mile RUCK patch, and a 50 mile buckle. Parking near the start finish area is limited and there are multiple nearby parking lots. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
