BALS Backyard

BALS Backyard is a Last Person Standing race hosted by BALS Racing at Westminster Park in Rock Hill, SC, using part of the park trail system near 4000 India Hook Road. The course is a repeatable loop of approximately 4.167 miles with about 400 feet of elevation gain and loss per loop. The loop is the same for daytime and nighttime running.

The format requires runners to complete one loop each hour. Whistle signals and a bell mark the countdown and the start of each loop. Runners must be present in the start corral when the bell rings and may not receive crew aid while on the course. Items taken from the corral must be returned to the corral; discarding items on course is not allowed. Runners who do not complete a loop within 60 minutes or who do not make the corral before the start of the next loop are recorded as DNF. The last remaining runner must complete one additional loop to be declared the winner.

The venue offers a pavilion with restroom facilities, open fields and a playground, an 18 hole disc golf course that is hosting the National Collegiate Championships, and river access for licensed fishing. One aid station near the pavilion will provide water and Just Ingredients electrolytes plus minimal organic snacks and some homemade items. Crew spots are assigned by registration order and may be set up the evening before or on race morning. The event will be streamed throughout the race.

Swag bags include BALS logo merchandise, a sticker, an electrolyte sample, and other small items. Finishers receive a custom handmade award and a sticker; runners who reach 50K (eight loops) will receive a pin. The event has a no refund policy with limited options for transfer or deferral, including a one year deferral option for pregnancy. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
