BALS Backyard

BALS Backyard is a last-person-standing race held at Westminster Park, 4000 India Hook Road, Rock Hill, SC on Saturday, October 17, 2026. The course uses a single loop of 4.167 miles with about 400 feet of elevation gain and loss per loop. Runners repeat the loop each hour and must be present in the corral when the bell signals the start of a loop; runners who fail to complete a loop in the allotted hour or who cannot return to the corral are recorded as DNF. The final remaining runner must complete one additional loop to be named the winner.

The venue includes playgrounds, acres of open fields, an 18-hole frisbee disc golf course hosting the National Collegiate Championships, restroom facilities, river fishing with a license, and a pavilion able to shelter at least a hundred participants. One aid station will operate near the pavilion offering water, Just Ingredients electrolytes, and a selection of minimal organic and homemade snacks. The event will be streamed throughout the race.

Crew areas are available as 12' x 12' spots; spots are assigned in registration order and determine proximity to the start/finish corral. Packet pick up is scheduled for the day before and on race morning at the Westminster Park Pavilion, with details to be announced. A swag bag and finisher items are provided; participants who reach 50K (eight loops) receive a pin. The organizer will allocate 10% of race profits to a foundation providing organic food to families in need, and current or veteran military receive a 15% discount.
