Awesome 80s Summer Solstice Beach Run
The Awesome 80s Summer Solstice Beach Run is an event held at Myrtle Beach that takes place on the sand. The course starts at Plyler Park and heads north for approximately 0.5 miles before returning to the finish line on the beach. Participants navigate the route during the sunset of the summer solstice, the longest day of sunlight of the year.
The following event options are available:
- Awesome 80s Summer Solstice Beach Run/Walk
- Awesome 80s Summer Solstice Beach Run/Walk Virtual Option
This is an un-timed event, and no overall or age group awards are provided. A timing clock is visible at the finish line for those interested in their own performance. The course will be managed by monitors providing direction to participants.
Due to the nature of the course, certain restrictions apply. Animals, baby joggers, strollers, skateboards, roller blades, and bicycles are not permitted on the race course. Violation of these rules results in disqualification.
Entry includes a participant bib, a shirt (while supplies last), and a medal. After finishing, participants receive a hotdog, chips, and soda or water. There is a costume theme, and individuals dressed in 1980s attire are entered into a raffle prize drawing. Public restrooms are located across the street from Plyler Park, and metered parking is available nearby on Ocean Blvd or at the 9th Avenue North parking garage.
