Ashtead 10k 2026

The event is held annually and raises funds for local charities. It includes a main 10 km race and a 2 km fun run for children.

The course runs entirely on rough tracks around Ashtead Common. The common is a Site of Special Scientific Interest for its breeding birds and is designated a National Nature Reserve because of decaying wood and the rare invertebrates it supports. The site also contains two ancient scheduled monuments, a Roman villa and a triangular earthwork. The race takes place with the permission of Ashtead Common Rangers and the Corporation of the City of London.

The route is not flat and is best described as undulating. Organisers note a historical massed hornet attack in 2010 and say they cannot guarantee the course will be hornet free, although hornets have not been seen since. For safety, earphones are not permitted.

The entry fee covers processing, a free raffle, licences and permits, and medical coverage. Monies raised after race expenses are donated to charity. Organisers describe the event as "The Greenest Race in Britain" and encourage participants to use public transport, walking, cycling, or car sharing; the local train station is about one minute's walk from the event HQ.
