Ashtead 10k 2026
The Ashtead 10k and 2 km fun run is an annual off-road event organised by Ashtead Running Group that raises funds for local charities. It is based at The Scout Hut, Woodfield, Ashtead KT21 2RL and takes place on rough tracks around Ashtead Common.
Ashtead Common is designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest for its breeding birds and a National Nature Reserve for the decaying wood of ancient trees and the rare invertebrates that live there. The site includes two ancient Scheduled Monuments, a Roman villa and a triangular earthwork. The event runs with the permission of the Ashtead Common Rangers and the Corporation of the City of London.
The course is undulating and is explicitly described as not flat. Organisers note a past massed hornet attack in 2010 and state that they cannot guarantee the course will be hornet-free, although hornets have not been seen since. For safety, earphones are not permitted during the race.
Distances and entry fees:
- 10 km race : entry fee listed as £20.00
- 2 km kids run : entry fee listed as £8.00
The entry fee covers processing, a free raffle, licences and permits, and medical coverage. Monies raised after race expenses are allocated to charity. The event promotes low-impact travel and notes a train station about one minute's walk from the HQ/start. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
