Arrochar Alps Hill Race 2026
The Arrochar Alps Hill Race takes place on Saturday, 27 June 2026 around Arrochar, starting and finishing on the track to Stronafyne Farm (OS Grid Ref: NN 29970 05161). The course is approximately 25 km with about 2400 m of ascent and visits four local munros. The route begins at sea level, climbs Glen Loin to Ben Vorlich, crosses Sloy Dam, ascends Ben Vane, crosses ground toward Beinn Ime and continues to the summit plateau of Beinn Narnain. Only the final two kilometres along the forestry track are marked.
Pre-entry is required. Competitors must be at least 18 years old and have previous experience of at least one category AL race and one category AM race or equivalent; ultras, long trail races and flagged events are not regarded as equivalent experience. Applicants must supply suitable experience for vetting; approval is required before payment instructions are issued. The Race Director's decision is final in the interests of safety.
Runners should be able to travel across rough, trackless mountain terrain and navigate accurately, often alone and in poor visibility. GPS devices must not be used as a navigational aid. Compulsory kit includes full waterproof body cover, hat, gloves, route map, compass, whistle, mobile phone, food and drink, hill shoes; maps must be laminated or in a waterproof case. Kit will be checked at registration before race numbers are issued.
Cut-off points are enforced at Sloy Dam, the col between Ben Vane and Beinn Ime, and Bhealach a’ Mhaim to help ensure marshal and runner safety. Registration, changing, toilets and bag storage are at Three Villages Hall. Council car parks at the head of Loch Long, local bus and train services serve the area.
