San Tan Scramble Trail Runs
San Tan Scramble is a series of trail races held at San Tan Mountain Regional Park in Queen Creek, Arizona on Saturday, January 9, 2027. Courses run through the foothills of the San Tan and Goldmine mountain ranges on rolling single-track trails with Saguaro cactus, valleys, rocky sections on the Goldmine Trail, and sandy wash sections on the San Tan Trail.
Distances offered:
- 50K : 31.7 miles, three loops of the 17K course.
- 26K : 16.2 miles, combines the 17K and 9K segments.
- 17K : 10.6 miles, larger loop of San Tan, Dynamite and Goldmine Trails.
- 9K : 5.7 miles, loop of San Tan, Hedgehog, and Goldmine Trails.
- 5K : 3.1 miles, finishes on Little Leaf Trail.
Aid stations appear regularly (roughly every 2 to 5 miles) and supply water, electrolyte drink, sweet and salty snacks, and fruit. This is a cupless event; runners should bring a reusable cup or obtain one on site. Chip timing and live tracking are provided. Drop bags are permitted at the start/finish for the 50K and 26K and crews may access the start/finish area only. Pacers are not allowed.
Parking and access notes for 2027 include a $10 park entry fee per vehicle, a $5 pedestrian fee for some walk-ins, and required shuttle parking at Mountain View Church for 5K and 9K runners with free park entry provided for shuttle riders. Courses are marked with orange ribbons with black polka dots, laminated signs, and checkerboard flagging for wrong way. Medical staff are based at the start/finish and awards are given to the top three men and women at each distance with finisher awards for all participants.
