Course and logistics
Courses run through the foothills of the San Tan and Goldmine mountain ranges on rolling single-track trails with Saguaro cactus, rocky sections, and some sandy washes. The 50K is run as three loops of the 17K course with alternating loop directions; the Goldmine Trail includes a very steep, rocky climb. Key stats published for each distance include distance, total elevation gain, and maximum elevation (for example, the 50K is listed as 31.7 miles with 3,876 feet gain).
Aid stations are placed regularly (ranges provided per distance) and offer water, electrolyte drink, snacks, and fruit. This is a cupless event; runners must bring a reusable cup or purchase one on site. Crews are limited to the start/finish area, drop bags are allowed for 50K and 26K, and pacers are not permitted. Parking and shuttle arrangements require some runners to park at Mountain View Church and ride a shuttle into the park; park entry and pedestrian fees apply. Awards are given to the top three male and female finishers at each distance and all finishers receive a finisher award. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
