Desert Twilight Community Race
The Desert Twilight Community Race is the 20th annual Nike Desert Twilight community 5K held as part of the Desert Twilight Cross Country Festival in Arizona. The community night 5K is run on a course lined with lights and takes place alongside the festival high school competition, which features 19 different races.
The running surface is partly grass, dirt and cart path. The course is available for inspection and warm ups before the race; for safety, fans, coaches and athletes are asked to remain off the course until it opens for inspection and warm ups. Medals are awarded to the top three finishers in each age group.
This edition counts as a USATF 5K. Runners with a current USATF membership number are eligible for prize payments of $300 to the overall male and female winners under 40 and to the male and female winners in the over 40 age group. The event offers a race entry fee of $50 per person if registered before the deadline and $60 thereafter. The first 150 registrants receive a Desert Twilight Community Race T shirt.
Age groups are 18 and under, 19 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59 and 60 and up. The festival setting is at Toka Sticks Golf Resort in Arizona. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
