PhoMo 50K
PhoMo 50K is a trail race held on December 12, 2026 in Phoenix, AZ, with start and finish at Shadow Rock Church, 12861 N 8th Ave. The event covers 50K on trails in the Phoenix Mountain Preserves, beginning and ending at the base of Shaw Butte.
The course is rocky and often technical, with about 5,500+ feet of elevation gain and very limited shade. The course will not be marked; participants will have GPX coordinates to upload to a watch or smartphone. Designated trails are generally well marked at junctions. Aid stations are planned at the top parking lot of Piestewa Peak trailhead and the Dreamy Draw trailhead ramada for the out and back section. Water fountains and restrooms are available at Dreamy Draw Trailhead, North Mountain Visitor Center and Piestewa Peak Drive. Participants should carry calories and water at all times; a hydration vest is recommended.
The event is limited to 50 runners and crew. Crew and pacers are allowed at accessible trailheads; pacers may start from Piestewa Peak trailhead. Runners will be manually timed and must check in with an aid station volunteer at Dreamy Draw on both passes.
Free parking and a porta potty are available at the church. The organizer plans training runs and a packet pick up and shake out run on December 10 at a location and time to be announced. The event takes place rain or shine and there are no refunds for cancellations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
