PhoMo 50k in Phoenix, AZ
PhoMo 50K is scheduled for December 12, 2026 in the Phoenix Mountain Preserves and is organized by GhostHead Productions. The race starts and finishes at the Shadow Rock Church parking lot at the base of Shaw Butte. The event is limited to 50 runners and crew.
The course will not be physically marked on the ground, but participants will receive GPX coordinates to upload to a watch or phone. Designated trails in the preserves are generally marked at junctions. A head lamp may be needed for the initial section. Runners will be manually timed and must check in with an aid station volunteer at Dreamy Draw on both passes.
Terrain is rocky and often technical, with about 5,500+ feet of elevation gain and very limited shade. Aid and water are planned at the top parking lot of Piestewa Peak trailhead and at the Dreamy Draw ramada area for the out and back sections. Water fountains and restrooms are available at Dreamy Draw Trailhead, North Mountain Visitor Center, and Piestewa Peak Drive. Participants should carry their own calories and water; a hydration vest is recommended. Crew access is allowed at the listed trailheads and pacers are permitted starting from Piestewa Peak trailhead.
Additional notes: free parking and a porta potty will be available at the church; packet pick up and a shake out run are planned for December 10 at a location to be determined; training runs are planned on the organizer group page. The event will take place rain or shine and there are no credits or refunds for cancellations. Participants who register by December 23, 2026 will receive a commemorative PhoMo hat and other swag.
