Flagstaff Extreme Big Pine Trail Runs
The event takes place at Fort Tuthill County Park in Flagstaff, Arizona on June 20, 2026. It is the 11th annual Big Pine Trail Runs and offers multiple loop distances on natural trails through ponderosa pine forest above 7,000 feet. The route includes sections on Soldiers Trail and the Highlands Trail Loop, with varied surfaces from narrow single track to wider forest paths. Runners reach a mesa with expansive mountain views before returning into the trees.
The 50K course leaves the park to reach Rogers Lake via the Gold Digger and Two Spot Trails, returns through the start area around mile 23, then continues for a final 13K loop. Races follow a 13K loop model: 27K equals two loops and 13K equals one loop. The 6K uses a partial Soldiers Trail loop. Pacing is permitted for the final 13K segment of the 50K.
Registration closes Monday June 15 at 11:59 PM Mountain Time; online registration closes the Monday before the race and late registration is available at packet pickup locations. Camping is available as a festival style tent add-on with separate parking, pre-setup tent and cot rental options, and permits valid from Friday 2 PM until Sunday 10 AM. Race entries are non-refundable and non-transferable. A night run series is held the previous evening at the same location. An adventure course for adults and children age 7 and up is located at the start area with annual passes available. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
