Flagstaff Extreme Big Pine Trail Runs (June 20, 2026)
The event takes place at Fort Tuthill County Park, Flagstaff, AZ (2446 Fort Tuthill Loop). Distances offered:
- 50K
- 27K
- 13K
- 6K
The courses use the Soldiers Trail and Highlands Trail Loop through ponderosa pine forest above 7,000 ft. The route includes narrow single track and wider forest paths and reaches a mesa with views of surrounding mountains. The shorter distances follow a 13K loop (27K = 2 loops, 13K = 1 loop, 6K = a partial Soldiers Trail loop). The 50K leaves the park for Rogers Lake via Gold Digger and Two Spot Trails and returns to the start/finish area for a final loop.
Course support and logistics
Aid stations supply water, an electrolyte drink (Gnarly Fuel-2O), sweet and salty snacks, and fruit. Aid station spacing varies by distance (for example, 50K stations are roughly every 4.1 to 6.5 miles; shorter races have stations every about 4.0 to 4.4 miles). Runners are advised to carry at least one bottle of water. Pacers are allowed only for the final loop of the 50K; crews are permitted at the start/finish area only. Drop bags are allowed at the start/finish and will be available on each loop.
The event uses chip timing with results posted using gun time. Awards go to the top three male and female finishers at each distance; all finishers receive a campfire mug or a wooden Artworx finisher award. Group tent camping is available as an add-on; tent passes are $35 and include Friday and Saturday nights. Medical staff from MedStar Solutions will be based at the start/finish. Registration opens September 1, 2025. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
