Course and logistics
Courses run on Soldiers Trail and Highlands Trail loops through ponderosa pine forest above 7,000 ft, with sections of narrow single track and wider forest paths and a mesa section with extended views. Aid stations are placed roughly every 4.0 to 7.3 miles and provide water, an electrolyte drink (Gnarly Fuel-2O), sweet and salty snacks, and fruit. Pacers are allowed only for the final loop of the 50K; crews are allowed at the start/finish area only. Drop bags are permitted at the start/finish and are available on each loop.
Courses will be marked with orange plastic ribbons with black polka dots and laminated signs at junctions; blue-and-white checkerboard flagging will mark wrong-way trails. Medical staff will be based at the start/finish headquarters. Parking is available at the start/finish north lot. A group tent-only campground is located a short walk from the start/finish; tent camping passes are limited. Awards go to the top three male and female finishers at each distance, and all finishers receive a branded campfire mug or wooden finisher award. Weather can be warm by day and cool at night.
