Course and logistics

The half marathon start/finish is at coordinates 36.81965, -111.30870 near mile post 307-308 on Highway 98. The half marathon runs entirely on Navajo Nation sand and uses double-track roads, ATV trails, washes, and slot canyons. Course features and aid stations: 4.3 miles to the first aid station, 4.4 miles of canyon running to the next aid station at about mile 6.9, an aid station at mile 9.3, and a final aid station near mile 11 where a 5 hour cutoff applies.

The 8 mile course follows the half marathon route into Canyon X, includes canyon bed running and a sand hill climb, and returns on double track. The half marathon lists almost 1,200 feet of ascent; the 8 mile course lists about 850 feet of total ascent and descent.
