The half marathon course is entirely on Navajo Nation sand and uses double track roads, ATV trails, washes, and slot canyons. Course notes list 4.3 miles to the first aid station, a 4.4 mile canyon section to the next aid station at about mile 6.9, a double track road to aid station 3 at mile 9.3, a 1.5 mile loop in a wash, and an overall ascent of nearly 1,200 feet. Ribbons and signs mark the course. The event is cupless; participants must carry their own bottles or a hydration bladder.

The 8 mile is a lollipop course following the half marathon route to the Canyon X slot, includes about 850 feet of ascent and descent, and features a sandy 155 foot hill approximately 200 meters long before a water drop.

The organizer rates difficulty as Medium to Very Hard depending on fitness, noting sand and UV exposure and a cut off at the last aid station at mile 11.
