Course and logistics

The course is on Navajo Nation terrain and is described as 100% sand with double track roads, ATV trails, washes, and slot canyons. The half marathon includes roughly 1,200 feet of ascent and aid stations reported at about mile 4.3, mile 6.9, and mile 9.3, with the last aid station at mile 11; there is a five hour cut off at the last aid station. The 8 mile course is a lollipop route that follows the half marathon to the slot canyon, includes a sand hill climb of about 155 feet (approximately 200 meters), and lists about 850 feet total ascent and descent.

The event is cup-less; participants need to carry their own bottles or hydration bladder. Ribbons and signs will mark the course.
