Course and logistics

The courses run on sand, double-track roads, ATV trails, washes, and slot canyons. The half marathon course description includes aid stations near miles 4.3, 6.9, and 9.3, a 1.5 mile loop in a wash, and a total ascent of almost 1,200 feet. The 8 mile course is a lollipop route with about 850 feet of ascent and descent; it follows the half marathon route to Canyon X, goes through the slot, includes a sand hill about 155 feet tall (200 meters long), and returns via double track to the start.

This is a cup-less event; participants must carry their own bottles or a hydration bladder. Course marking will use ribbons and signs. The organizer rates difficulty from medium to very hard depending on fitness, citing sand, UV exposure, and warm temperatures. Cutoff at the last aid station (mile 11) is 5 hours. Bib pickup is available April 11, 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM MST at the start line parking lot, with limited pickup the morning of the event at the start area near mile post 307-308 on Highway 98. The event follows Page, AZ / Phoenix time. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
