Course and logistics

Course surfaces include technical sand and dirt trails and portions of slickrock along the Page Rim. The longer distances (50 Mile, 55K and others) pass through slot canyons with ladder and cable sections; the half and 30K do not enter slot canyons. Exact race mileages and time limits are published for each distance (for example, the Trail Half is 13.3 miles with a 5 hour limit; the 30K is 19.2 miles with an 8 hour limit; the 55K is 34 miles with a 13 hour limit; the 50 Mile is 51.2 miles with a 19 hour limit).

Aid stations vary by distance and generally offer water, Gnarly Fuel2O, fresh fruit, salty and sweet items, soda, and portable bathrooms. Longer aid stations provide additional supplies such as salt caps, electrolyte caps, sunscreen, anti-chafe agents, and basic first aid. Drop bags are allowed for ultra distances and must follow published labeling and drop-off rules. Crew and pacer permissions differ by distance and are restricted to designated access points. Mandatory gear includes a working cell phone, a GPX-enabled device with the route, and a headlamp for several distances. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
