Course, logistics and rules
Courses run on technical sand and dirt trails around the Page Rim and nearby desert canyons. The 55K and 50-mile courses include slot canyons, ladder and cable sections, deep sand, and rock-hopping; the 30K and Trail Half do not pass through slot canyons. Aid stations are placed along each course and supply water, Gnarly Fuel2O, fresh fruit, salty and sweet items, soda, and portable toilets; larger ultra aid stations also offer basic first aid, sunscreen, and electrolyte or salt caps. Drop bags are allowed for ultra distances with labeling and timing rules; runners must leave bags by the night before the race.
Time limits are posted per distance (for example, Trail Half - 5 hours; 30K - 8 hours; 55K - 13 hours; 50 Mile - 19 hours). Mandatory equipment includes a working cell phone and a GPX-enabled device with the route downloaded; several distances require a headlamp. Crew and pacer rules vary by distance: no crew or pacers for the Trail Half and 30K, crew only for the 55K, and crew and pacers allowed for the 50-mile.
