The route includes high alpine ridges, rocky high-country trails, and deep canyons around Mt. Wilson. AC100 is one of the original U.S. 100-mile races and is listed as a Western States qualifier and a UTMB Index 100M qualifying race.
Entry, course changes and awards
Entry to the 2026 race is by lottery only. The lottery opened September 19, 2025 and closed September 29, 2025; 210 spots were allocated via the lottery. Runners must complete a 50+ mile qualifier between January 1, 2025 and September 3, 2026. Trail work is required by September 3, 2026; Southern California entrants must do AC100 trail work while out-of-area entrants may complete local trail work. The SOLO division permits no pacers and no crew, and division changes are not allowed after signup.
The 2026 course bypasses Chantry Flats due to fire and storm damage and will reach Mt. Wilson via the Kenyon/Devore and Gabrielino trails before finishing at Loma Alta Park. Finishers receive a personalized engraved plaque and a finisher T-shirt; runners finishing within 33 hours also receive a finisher buckle. Specific buckle tiers are awarded for sub-24, 24:00–24:59:59, and 25:00–33:00 finishing windows, and special buckles are reserved for new course records. Refund policy: 50% through May 1, 25% through September 1. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
