Course, awards and logistics

The route mostly follows the cemetery boundary and covers east and west points, including low and high areas across the 180-acre site. The course uses green lanes, single-track trails in the woodland boundary, and open ridge tops with views up and down the Kanawha Valley. The route has more than 1000 ft of elevation and starts and finishes at the Administration Building. All participants receive a handcrafted wooden finisher medal. Running awards are given to overall and age group first place male and female finishers; hikers receive an informative brochure about points of interest. Parking is at the East and West gates and may be up to 1/2 mile from the site; signage and stewards will direct vehicles and car pooling from Laidley Field is suggested. Proceeds after expenses support Friends of Spring Hill Cemetery Park & Arboretum for tree planting in the Mary Price Ratrie Arboretum. Sponsored by the Spring Hill Cemetery Commission.
