Ode in the Snow : 8 Hours of Ode

The event takes place at 5000 McGinnis Road in Holly, Michigan, on a trail course centered on a 4.167 mile loop. The loop includes about 450 feet of climbing, is roughly two thirds technical single track, one third moderate walking or hiking path, and contains a few hundred yards of pavement. The 5k and 10k use the same loop with a shortened out and back section near the Overlook picnic area.

Race formats include a Backyard format with hourly starts and a continuous option that allows runners to cover as much distance as they can within the eight hour window. Virtual entrants may complete their effort any time within the two weeks leading up to the on-site event and submit results afterward. There is no chip timing.

On-site logistics require contestants to provide their own aid; pacers are not permitted except for continuous runners who exceed ten laps. Crew access is allowed and participants receive a reserved chair or cooler space near the start and finish. Canopies up to ten by ten feet with enclosed sides are permitted. No hiking poles, dogs, strollers, or trail headphones are allowed. A light source is required for trail use after dusk. Water and coffee are provided and glass containers are prohibited.
