8-Hour Dream Endurance Race & Cat Nap 5K
The 8-Hour Dream is a fixed-duration endurance event where participants try to cover as much distance as possible within eight hours. The event is held on the Butler University campus at the west side of Hinkle Fieldhouse, 510 W 49th St, Indianapolis, IN 46208. Participants may run, walk, or alternate between moving and resting during the timed period.
Course options available during the day:
- Long Course (5K)
- Short Course (1.91 miles)
Runners can switch between courses at any time to manage pacing or to seek shade. Both courses include Bulldog’s Revenge Hill.
Entry formats include SOLO entries for ages 14 and older, team relays, and a separate Cat Nap 5K. The Cat Nap 5K is a single-loop 5K that starts with the opening lap of the Dream. Team categories are Female, Male, and Coed, with divisions for 3–4 person teams and 5–6 person teams. Coed team minimums:
- 3–4 person teams: either one female on three-person teams, or two females on four-person teams
- 5–6 person teams: two females on five-person teams, or three females on six-person teams
The RC Cup is open to certified nonprofit running clubs and requires a six-person coed team with three male and three female runners; clubs may enter one RC Cup team and additional teams in the Open division. Event amenities include a tent village with assigned 10 x 10 spaces, rules that require dogs to be leashed and prohibit open flames, plus a post-race celebration with a free cookout, live music, a beer garden, and podium ceremonies.
