8-Hour Dream Endurance Race
The 8-Hour Dream Endurance Race is a fixed-duration event held on the campus of Butler University in Indianapolis. Participants aim to cover as much distance as possible within an eight-hour timeframe by running, walking, or strolling. The event takes place around the historic Hinkle Fieldhouse and is structured similarly to a tailgate, combining a competitive atmosphere with a social environment.
Participants can choose between two different loop options during the race. These courses can be switched at any time to adjust strategy or seek different conditions. Both routes include a specific section known as the Bulldog's Revenge Hill. The distance options and race formats include:
- 5 km Long Course
- 1.91 miles Short Course
- 8-hour SOLO entry for individuals aged 14 and older
- 8-hour Relay teams for 3 to 4 or 5 to 6 members
- 5 km Cat Nap 5K for a single-loop participation
The relay portion features different categories for male, female, and coed teams, with specific requirements for the number of female participants on coed rosters. There is also an RC Cup Challenge specifically for non-profit running clubs, requiring a six-person coed team with an equal gender split.
The event concludes with a post-race gathering that features a cookout, live music, and a beer garden. Following the completion of the eight hours, podium ceremonies are held to recognize the performance of individuals and teams. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
