The event takes place on May 10 at Terwillegar Park in southwest Edmonton, situated within the river valley. The park covers over 186 hectares of rugged terrain.
The 5 Peaks course loops through hills, single track and muddy sections. Participants can expect technical trail features including steep descents, riverside climbs, roots, rocks and sharp up and down hills. Parts of the route run parallel to the river and the park is commonly used by families and dog walkers, so attention to other users is advised.

Washrooms are available near the start and finish area. Parking is limited so carpooling is recommended. Spectators are welcome and the best viewing is around the start and finish area.
Additional details: the event is cup free. Water and electrolyte drinks will be available at the start and finish and at one or more aid stations on course. If out longer than an hour, participants should carry a receptacle for fluids and calories. Registration fees include processing charges and cancellation insurance but do not include swag or medals. Finisher swag and medals can be purchased. Awards are given to the top three finishers by gender and age category for each distance and to the top three overall.
