Terwillegar Park event (May 10-11)

The event is the first race in the Northern Alberta 5 Peaks Trail Running Series, held at Terwillegar Park in Southwest Edmonton. The park area for the course covers over 186 hectares in the river valley. The event runs across a weekend in May and includes packet pick-up before and on race morning, post-race food, and an awards ceremony after results are compiled.

Race distances and course

Race options include:

  • 1 km (Kids)
  • 3 km (Kids)
  • 8.1 km Sport (run or hike)
  • 16.2 km Enduro (run or hike)

The course loops through hills and single-track and can include mud. Participants should expect technical sections with steep descents, riverside climbs, roots, rocks, and abrupt up and down hills. Some race distances and maps may change based on trail conditions.

Facilities, rules and awards

Washroom facilities are available at the start/finish area. Parking is limited and spectators are welcome, with best viewing from the start/finish area. The event is cup-free; water and electrolyte drink are available at the start/finish and at one or more aid stations. If out for longer than an hour, participants should carry a receptacle for fluids and nutrition. Prohibited on course are dogs, headphones, strollers or baby joggers, and nordic walking poles except for the hiking group. Awards go to top three finishers by gender in each age and distance category and to the top three overall male and female finishers.
