3 Beaches Half Marathon Hebrides

The 3 Beaches Half Marathon is a multi terrain running event on the Isle of Benbecula in the Outer Hebrides. The event can be run solo or as a pair. The route starts on machair land behind the Dark Island Hotel and quickly enters Liniclate beach (beach 1), then runs north toward "Stinky Bay" (beach 2). After the Culla Bay beach checkpoint and the pairs changeover at about 5 miles (beach 3) the course continues on tarmac for the remainder and finishes in front of the Dark Island Hotel.

Entry is recorded as standard £20 with a discounted rate of £18 available until 02 May for Scottish Athletics members. A service fee of 4 percent (minimum 50p) applies to sign ups. The organiser lists a total of 120 places; current availability is not specified. A refund policy applies: refunds up to 1 April incur a fee of £5; after 1 May no refund is available.

Prizes are awarded for Male 1st to 3rd, Female 1st to 3rd, various age categories, and for pairs with Male, Female and Mixed pair winners. Water is provided on the course including seawater and fresh bottled water. A downloadable GPX route file is available.

Participants should note that beach and machair sections can be uneven underfoot. The organiser cautions that rabbits on Benbecula dig burrows that can create fairly large holes. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
