About the race
The Wildhorse Traverse is a point to point trail race held on May 1, 2027 in the Okanagan region of British Columbia. The 50 km course starts at Bertram Creek Regional Park and finishes at Manitou Park in Naramata, and follows technical single track, historic railway grade and remote canyon sections.
The route includes about 1,896 metres of ascent and 1,903 metres of descent. There are three main aid stations located at roughly 20.5 km, 35 km and 46.5 km. Aid stations provide water, electrolyte drink mixes, gels and basic foods; one aid station is remote and requires boat access so supplies there are limited. Runners may use one drop bag at aid station 2; drop bags must fit in a shoe bag and be dropped off on race morning.
The event requires runners to carry mandatory gear including a lightweight jacket and an emergency blanket, and to start with a minimum amount of hydration and calories (the organisers specify minimum fluid and 400 calories). Random gear checks and mandatory check ins at aid stations are enforced. The race has four cut offs and allows a total of 10 hours to complete the course.
Logistics notes in the event materials include shuttle service from Naramata to the start for a fee, portable toilets at start and finish areas and a post race meal provided for participants.
