About the race
Wicked Rogaines Spring Series Event 4 takes place on 4 November 2026 at Taylors Mistake, Christchurch as one round of a multi‑date spring rogaining series held around the Port Hills. Events are held mostly off road on tracks that cross open farmland and hilly forest, with teams navigating by map and compass between checkpoints. Rogaining is a timed, score‑based team navigation sport. Teams of two to six members attempt to visit as many checkpoints as possible; different checkpoints carry different point values based on access difficulty, so route choice and team strategy affect scoring.
Shorter events often permit solo entry, and there is a dedicated kids fun rogaine designed as an easy one‑hour course around the start area for children aged about four years and up; kids must be accompanied by an adult. Event formats and categories include: - 2 hour event - 1 hour event - 1 hour kids event Competition classes cover Men, Women and Mixed teams, and age categories Open, Junior (under 23), Veteran (40+) and Super Veteran (55+). Basic mandatory gear includes a waterproof jacket, hat and gloves, good footwear, water, whistle, headlamp, one cellphone per team and one compass per team.
