About the race
Wicked Rogaines Spring Series Event 2 is a rogaining event held at Halswell Quarry in Christchurch on 21 October 2026. Rogaining is a team navigation sport in which teams travel on foot between checkpoints using map and compass across variable terrain that can include open farmland, tracks and hilly forest.
The event is part of a multi‑round spring series staged across several locations. Competitors may enter in different length categories:
- 2 hour
- 1 hour
- 1 hour Kids Event
Teams consist of two to six members; teams with members under 14 must include at least one member aged 18 or over. Competition classes are Men, Women and Mixed, with age divisions Open, Junior (all under 23), Veteran (all 40 or over) and Super Veteran (all 55 or over). Checkpoints carry different scores based on difficulty, so team strategy and route choice determine results. Shorter rogaines may allow solo competitors.
Mandatory gear requirements include a polypropylene base layer, waterproof jacket, hat and gloves, good footwear, water, whistle, headlamp with batteries, one cellphone per team and one compass per team.
