Wandering Moose 35K

Wandering Moose is a trail race series on the Kettle Valley Railway and in Myra Bellevue Provincial Park, finishing at Okanagan Recreation Center in Kelowna, BC. The event offers multiple distances:

  • 35 km : a long, varied tour through Myra Bellevue Provincial Park.
  • 25 km : a mid distance that explores deep into the Myra Bellevue trail network.
  • 12 km : shorter singletrack course with technical terrain.
  • 1 km kids race : untimed, roughly 1 km; children under 5 must be accompanied.

The courses start on the historic Kettle Valley Railway at about 1,250 m and include a mix of smooth flowing singletrack, loamy forest floor, technical descents, steep climbs, roots, rocks and creek crossings. Recorded elevation figures for the courses are: 35 km ascent 940 m descent 1,420 m; 25 km ascent 510 m descent 1,000 m; 12 km ascent 204 m descent 672 m.

Aid stations serve as mandatory checkpoints. The event is cup free; runners must bring a reusable cup or bowl for food and drink at aid stations. Bibs must be worn on the front and clearly visible. Crew assistance is allowed only inside designated aid station boundaries and runners may not receive outside assistance except from other registered runners.

Transportation notes include a race shuttle from Okanagan Recreation Center to the KVR start and no parking at the KVR start area. Lunch is included with race entry and dietary options are provided. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
