Time Laps 24-Hour Relay Race
Time Laps is a 24-hour, lap-based trail running relay held at the Whitewater Center in Charlotte, NC. Teams may include 2 to 12 participants, and the event is limited to 400 participants on a first-come, first-serve basis. Standings are based on points: each lap carries a point value tied to its distance and elevation change, and runners must check in at the scoring table after each lap.
The format allows single gender or coed teams; only one runner per team accrues points at a time. Team members are not required to run the same number of laps, but each member must complete at least one. Runners from the same team may run together between sunset and sunrise if they choose.
Registration includes a prepared dinner, breakfast, lunch, raffle tickets, a finisher’s medal and a race t-shirt. Race shirts and medals are guaranteed only for pre-registrants by specified deadlines. Registration is non-refundable and day-of registration is not available. Packet pick-up is handled at the South Conference Center.
Camping is provided in designated team areas; generators are not permitted and a refundable campsite deposit of $50 cash is required. Dogs are allowed at campsites but must be kept on a 6 ft leash. Trails remain open to other users during the event, no e-bikes or powered transportation are permitted, and there will be no aid stations on course.
