The Yomp - Super Saturday

The event is part of a three-day mountain running weekend around Kirkby Stephen and the Upper Eden Valley in East Cumbria. It comprises six events that use fell, valley and low-level routes and start and finish at Basecamp at The Engine Shed, Kirkby Stephen.

Routes include a range of distances and formats:

  • ThruDark 65k Ultra Yomp
  • ThruDark Yomp Mountain Marathon, about 26 miles
  • JT Atkinsons 20k Yomp
  • Aldersons 10k Yomp, 11.2 km route
  • Friday Sunset Stroll, 10k guided
  • Sunday family and dog friendly 5k

Several courses cross Wild Boar Fell, Mallerstang, the Nine Standards and parts of the Coast-to-Coast and Pennine Way routes. The Ultra route includes multiple well stocked feed stations; the Mountain Marathon has a main feed station and water points. The 20k and Ultra events use GPS tracking for competitor safety; marshals and quad bikes provide additional course support.

Facilities at Basecamp include live music, speakers, catering, retail and a fully stocked bar. A hot meal is provided to competitors after the races by event sponsors JMP Food Service and The Firebox Caterers. Camping is available for the weekend and organiser information is provided by the event team.

Minimum age limits apply per event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
