The More Miles Last One Standing Challenge
The More Miles Last One Standing Challenge is an official backyard ultra held at Manidokan Camp and Retreat Center in Knoxville, Maryland. The event uses a repeating lap format in which participants must complete one designated lap within each hour to continue. The main backyard lap measures 4.167 miles; a separate Mortals edition uses 1 mile laps and runs for 24 hours before tie-breaker miles are added until a single winner remains.
The course is primarily trail with rolling hills, minimal rocks and roots, packed dirt, grass, and packed gravel. There is one road crossing that is the only paved section. On-course and basecamp aid stations provide water and Open Fuel; beginning in hour five the aid rotation offers cold and dry snacks in early hours and hot items in later hours. The event is cupless; participants are asked to bring their own bottle or collapsible cup.
Camping at the start/finish village is included, with a designated 10x10 space for each participant. Showers are available and cabins with beds and air conditioning are available to rent approximately 400 meters from the start/finish area. Every participant receives official timing, a race t-shirt, and a race bib. Prize money is offered to the Last One Standing champion and the assist based on official race miles.
