The Maverick Dark Castle Trail Friday 20 November 2026
The event is a night trail running meeting at Corfe Castle in Dorset, taking place on Friday 20 November 2026. Runners leave the castle and pass through the village of Corfe, cross Corfe Common, run toward Church Knowle, then climb the ridge at Knowle Hill with views across Purbeck and Poole Harbour.
Routes follow ridge paths, single-track woodland and open heath. Trail underfoot is expected to be soft and muddy in November, with a few hard-packed or road sections. Wildlife such as Sika deer may be visible in the woods. Headtorches are required and headphones are not permitted.
Distances and elevation gains:
- 15 km, elevation gain +243 m
- 11 km, elevation gain +225 m
- 5 km, elevation gain +120 m
Only the Long route includes one outpost at approximately 7 km offering snacks, gels and electrolyte drink. There are no outposts on the Middle and Short routes. There are no toilets along the running routes; toilets are available in the start and finish area. The car park is a 15 to 20 minute walk from the main venue. Dogs are not allowed within the event venue. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a participating adult.
