About the race
Leighton Hall is a trail running event set in the Arnside and Silverdale National Landscape in north Lancashire, with views towards Morecambe Bay. The event features two marked and marshalled courses:
- 21 km (Trail Half Marathon)
- 10 km
Courses run mainly on scenic, hard packed trails with occasional muddy sections and some short road links. Marshals oversee the route and Event Safety Group medics provide medical cover. In-ear headphones are not permitted; bone conduction devices are allowed. Competitors may need to close gates they pass and should be considerate to other trail and road users.
Water stations are provided but cups are not supplied, so runners should carry their own water or a reusable cup. Water station locations on the half marathon are at mile 3.1, 6, 8 and 11.2; the 10 km has a station at kilometre 5.8.
Event logistics include registration on the day where race numbers must be collected, on-site baggage storage near the main marquee, and live results available online. Parking is on grass at Leighton Hall with a charge of £5 for cars and £6 for small vans; cars carrying four or more occupants park free. Only small vans up to the size of a VW Transporter are permitted and there is no overnight camping on site.
The event village hosts local food and drink vendors, a sports retailer, a professional photographer, and children's fun trails for under 12s with on-the-day free entry. Dogs are not permitted on the course or in the venue. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
