The Last Wolf - Kings Mountain, NC

The Last Wolf is a Last Man Standing event organized by Dirty Wolf Ultras in Kings Mountain, NC. Runners repeat a 3.1-mile (5K) loop while a changing time limit governs elimination. The time allowed to complete each loop increases through a cycle of 40, 45, 50, 55, and 60 minutes, then resets to 40 and repeats. Missing a cutoff removes a runner from the competition. To claim victory, the final remaining runner must complete one solo loop within the current time limit.

The course follows gravel trails with some elevation gain and includes a roughly out-and-back layout described as a mile and a little out then back. An on-course aid station provides basic food options such as pickles, cereal, pretzels, candy, fruit, and bacon, plus hydration including water, Tailwind, and assorted sodas; first aid supplies are available.

Event rules note that bibs must be worn visibly on the front, trekking poles are not allowed, and weather can vary. No dogs or strollers are allowed on the course except by special exception. Runners and walkers may participate if they meet the time limits. Entry fees range from $33.50 to $110 (USD). Registration closes on October 5, 2026. Medals are awarded on completion and are individually assigned to finishers. The event is private and unregistered participants are not permitted. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
