Hardmoors 160

The Hardmoors 160 is a single stage ultramarathon held in June 2027 that links the Tabular Hills route with the Cleveland Way, running from Scalby / Scarborough to the finish at Filey. The course distance is 160 miles with around 6700 m of ascent. Competitors have an overall time limit of 50 hours to complete the route.

The route follows the Tabular Hills to Helmsley and then the full length of the Cleveland Way. There are 15 checkpoints spaced along the course, many providing water, food and hot drinks, and several checkpoints where support crews are not permitted.

Entry is limited to 60 competitors. All entrants must be supported by at least one driver with a vehicle for the full duration of the race; runners may share support. Entry details and fees are to be confirmed. Race entry includes a GPS tracker for competitor location monitoring.

Entry requirements and safety rules include proof of previous completion of a single stage event of at least 60 trail miles, compulsory kit checks on registration and on course, and mandatory equipment carried by each runner. Required items include hat and gloves, a waterproof jacket with taped seams, a minimum of 1 litre of water, headtorch and spare batteries, paper map, whistle, survival bag, emergency food and a mobile phone. Missing some mandatory items carries time penalties or disqualification. Relay teams may enter with 2 to 6 runners and must provide vehicle backup; each relay member must run through at least one checkpoint.
