Hardmoors 160
The Hardmoors 160 is a single stage ultramarathon covering 160 miles and roughly 6700 m of ascent. The route links the 48 mile Tabular Hills route with the full length of the Cleveland Way National Trail, starting at Scalby and finishing at Filey via Helmsley.
Competitors have 50 hours to complete the course. Entry is limited to 60 competitors. All entrants must be supported throughout the event by a motorised backup team; at minimum one driver plus a vehicle is required and crews may be shared. Relay teams are permitted with 2 to 6 runners, must provide vehicle backup and each team member must pass through at least one checkpoint.
A tracker is included with each solo entry and provides live location data online for safety and crew use. Runners must have completed a prior single stage event of at least 60 trail miles to be eligible.
There are multiple staffed checkpoints offering water, food and hot drinks at specified locations, and several checkpoints where support crews are not permitted. Competitors must pass each checkpoint before its cut off time or they will be timed out. A detailed compulsory kit list is enforced and spot checks will be conducted; specific omissions carry time penalties or disqualification, and failure to follow marshal or race control instructions can lead to withdrawal.
