About the race
Telemark Adventure Run is an orienteering Score-O style event held on Sunday October 25, 2026, in the Telemark Nordic Club trail network and nearby forest near Kelowna. The event uses a computer-generated map handed out to all participants and a common set of checkpoints with different point values based on distance and difficulty. The map is oriented to magnetic north and includes vehicle tracks, trails, water features (creeks, ponds, marshes), 5-metre contours, some boulders and cliffs, and computer-generated vegetation density. While trails have been field-verified, most off-trail areas have not been field-checked.
There has been some recent logging in a few small areas of the map. Participants choose between two time-limited score formats and attempt to collect as many points as possible; checkpoint values include 120, 80, and 40 points. For each minute returned late past the time limit, 20 points are deducted. SI timing will be used and timing chips for borrowing are included in the registration price.
Organizers will manually calculate points and publish results and routes after the event. Mandatory equipment: provided map, whistle, and watch or mobile phone. Recommended: water, energy food, appropriate clothing, long pants for off-trail running, and a compass. Juniors aged 15 and under must participate in groups of 2 to 3 or with an adult.
