Sussex Downs Trail Run
The Sussex Downs Trail Run takes place in the South Downs National Park, with the event base at Plumpton Racecourse. The venue is accessible from nearby towns including Brighton, Haywards Heath, Lewes and Burgess Hill and from the A27 and A23.
There are three route options:
- 21.3 km Half Marathon route
- 15.5 km Medium route
- 10.8 km Short route
Each route begins with a generally flat, tree-lined warm up of about 3.5 km before an ascent to the South Downs Way. The climb gives views over the Sussex countryside, the Seven Sisters Country Park and distant sea views. Courses include a loop on firm trails toward Brighton, a return to the South Downs Way, a descent from the hilltop and a flat final 3 km to the finish.
Event provisions listed for participants include chip timing, a finisher medal, a refreshing drink and finisher goodies, a personalised certificate, on-course refreshments, first aid cover and course marshals. The route is fully signed using pink arrows and pink tape, with hazards and road junctions marked by caution signs. Parking is available at the event venue.
