Event Overview
The STC Halloween Run is an annual trail running event held at Green Lakes State Park in Fayetteville, New York. Organized by the Syracuse Track Club, this themed event takes place on a course that leads participants around Green and Round Lake. The event features a festive atmosphere with creepy music, decorations, and a community focus on the Halloween holiday.
The event offers two distinct distances for participants:
- 5K Trail Run
- 0.5 Miles (Kid's Fun Run)
Race Features and Activities
The 5K course follows a trail-style path where volunteers are stationed to provide directions along the woods. Participants are encouraged to wear costumes during the run, and prizes are awarded for the most creative outfits. Registered participants for the 5K receive a long-sleeve race shirt. Following the races, a selection of refreshments is provided, including bagels, fruit, and snacks.
For younger participants, the event includes a Kid's Fun Run which is not timed. Following the children's dash, a Trunk-or-Treat session is held in the parking lot, allowing children to collect candy from decorated vehicle trunks. Goodie bags are also provided at the finish line for the kids.
Logistics
The event offers free race-day parking at the state park. Registration is conducted exclusively through online platforms, as paper or cash entries are not accepted.
