South Wales - Christmas Advent Run 2026
Organised by Phoenix Running South Wales at Rhydycar in Merthyr Tydfil on Sunday 29 November 2026, this is a timed, lap based running event held along the Taff Trail. Participants complete repeated laps of a measured out and back circuit that begins behind Merthyr Tydfil Leisure Centre, heads south to a turnaround point, returns past the Leisure Centre and continues north to a second turnaround before finishing a lap at the aid station.
Distances available include:
- 5 km
- 10 km
- Half marathon
- Marathon
- Ultra
Each lap measures 5.3 km (3.28 miles). The course is entirely tarmac, officially measured and AUKCM certified for road classification, with approximately 63 m elevation gain and loss per lap. The minimum recorded distance is 3.28 miles and the full event operates within a seven hour time window.
Entry options include affiliated and unaffiliated standard entries and a no medal entry priced lower to reduce cost. Standard entry fees and a no medal option are published by the organiser. All attended participants receive event support, an aid station on course, same day results and digital athlete services; finishers receive a bespoke finishers medal unless they choose the no medal option.
The event will be licensed by Welsh Athletics pending approval and UK Athletics distance restrictions apply to participants aged 20 or under. Places are limited. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
