The Sewanee Slammer is a 20 mile loop race on the Perimeter Trail at the University of the South in Sewanee, TN. The course runs atop the bluffs of the Cumberland Plateau and passes overlooks, geologic features, lakes and ponds, and upland deciduous forest. The start and finish are at the Mountain Goat Visitor Center in Sewanee Village, with parking at the Visitor Center and adjacent grassy areas.
There are three aid stations on course at miles 5.3, 10.5, and 14.06. Ten percent of race proceeds will be directed to the Perimeter Trail Fund. The event organizer is Nashville Running Company, and the event lists vendor partners HOKA, Feetures, and Huma; swag will be awarded to race winners.
Packet pickup is scheduled for Friday, October 16 at Shenanigans in Sewanee, with additional pickup on race day at the start/finish area. Race shirts are guaranteed for entrants who register by September 27; shirts are unisex cotton blend style. Registration pricing is listed as $85 through September 30 and $95 after September 30, prices shown without taxes and fees, and registration closes October 15 at 11:59 PM CT. A trail map for the area is available from the University of the South. During registration, entrants may choose to donate to Move! Music City, a registered 501(c)(3).
