About the race
Rim Runner Trail Races is a trail running event in Sewanee, TN, organized by Green Tunnel Events and held on April 10, 2027. The courses use Franklin State Forest's West Rim and West Side trails, forming a large loop that runs along the rim and overlooks coves on either side.
Distances offered:
- Half Marathon : 1,600 ft of climbing
- 50K : 3,200 ft of climbing
- 50 Miler : 5,700 ft of climbing
The event lists a 16 hour official finish for all distances. The 100 mile distance will not be held in 2027; the organizer notes there are options for those interested in the 100 mile buckle.
Refund and deferral policy is tiered by time before the event: 100% refund or deferral more than four weeks out; 50% refund or 100% race credit/deferral two to four weeks out; 50% race credit within one week of the event.
Awards include a three layer welded steel buckle and sawed, hand branded whiskey barrel staves for the Half Marathon, 50K and 50 miler. The event name refers to running along the rim of a cove and to Tennessee’s prohibition era history of rum running. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
