Sea to Summit Ben Nevis

Sea to Summit Ben Nevis is a fully waymarked, fully supported mountain ultramarathon and part of the Rat Race National 3 Peaks Trilogy. The one day event on 10 October 2026 covers 28 miles (45 km) with approximately +5400 ft of elevation. It can be taken as a standalone ultramarathon or as one of the three Sea to Summit events that together award a gold Trilogy medal on completion.

The route begins on the west coast and finishes at Nevis Range Mountain Experience Resort. A mandatory coach transfer takes participants to the coastal startline and the finish returns to Nevis Range. The course is about 95% trail and passes ancient woodland, waterfalls, gorges, hidden lochans and remote moorland, and includes fire roads, a marshy section and a technical alternative descent on Ben Nevis. The entire route is marked with bright orange arrows; a GPX file is also available for download but participants are asked to follow the arrows and signage.

Support includes staffed pit stops with toilets, basic foods and drinks, and professional medical cover provided by a qualified team with vehicles and a private ambulance. Cut offs are enforced at a 3 mph pace with key checkpoint distances noted on event information. A mandatory kit list applies and participants must be over 18 on the day of registration. Supporters cannot access the private startline; recommended access points or volunteering options are published nearer the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
