SAS Endurance - Talybont-on-Usk, 1-2 October 2027

SAS Endurance is a navigational endurance event organised by The S.F. Experience and held at Talybont Reservoir Layby, Talybont-on-Usk, Merthyr Tydfil (LD3 7YS) on 1-2 October 2027. The route follows the same final-stage route used in the UKSF Test Week aptitude phase and is offered in two distance options.

The event structure and requirements include a focus on navigation and long distance load carriage. The full route covers 64 km and the half route finishes at Cray Reservoir at approximately 32 km. The event’s SF category is intended to emulate the weight and distance aspects of SF selection; during selection soldiers carry in excess of 55 lb excluding food, water and rifle.

Unless joining a guided group, participants must demonstrate navigation competence by attending a land navigation weekend provided by the organiser, completing an equivalent one-to-one navigation course, or by showing evidence of navigation experience. Guided groups are led by the event leadership and do not require individual navigation.

Course support and safety measures are in place. The route is marshalled at particular areas, water is available at designated checkpoints, and medic and mountain safety teams will be present. Cut off times at designated checkpoints will be announced in the event brief and may depend on weather and ground conditions. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
