Sanborn Trail Challenge
The Sanborn Trail Challenge takes place on Saturday, February 27, 2027, at Sanborn County Park, 16055 Sanborn Road, Saratoga, CA. The event offers multiple trail race distances on routes that are mostly single track and steep through mixed evergreen forest featuring Redwood, Douglas Fir, Oak Madrone, and Tanbark Oak.

Course details note that about 95% of the terrain is single track. The trails are described as mountainous and technical, with substantial ascent on the longer routes (4 Mile ~1,315 ft ascent; 8 Mile ~2,634 ft ascent; Half Marathon ~4,528 ft ascent). The 4 Mile is a single counterclockwise loop. The 8 Mile uses two loops with a midcourse aid stop. The Half Marathon consists of multiple loops with additional out and back mileage near the end.
Aid and facilities: a full aid station is located at the Peterson Grove Picnic Area and serves as start and finish aid for longer distances; toilets are available at the start area and additional full service restrooms are a few hundred yards away at the Costanoan Group Picnic Area. Courses are marked with ribbons, signs, and gypsum; yellow ribbons with large arrows mark a sharp trail turn.
Logistics and policies: entry fees range from $25 to $95 and are non refundable; credits or transfers to future events may be offered if cancellation is advised before race day. Drop bag service is not available. Parking requires self registration and a fee per vehicle. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
