Chiltern Ridge Winter 50K
The Chiltern Ridge Winter 50K is a single loop trail race held on 31 October 2026. The course covers 50K with around 800 m of ascent, starts and finishes at Berkhamsted Cricket Club, and is limited to 350 runners. The overall time limit is 9 hours and the minimum entry age is 20. The race holds UTMB World Series index status and is licensed by the Trail Running Association under UKA rules.
The route moves from Berkhamsted Common into the National Trust Ashridge Estate, joins The Ridgeway National Trail to Aldbury (checkpoint 1), continues along The Ridgeway to Wendover (checkpoint 2), then returns via the Chiltern Way with more single track and woodland sections before a downhill finish into Berkhamsted. The course is fully marked with orange arrows and ribbons and marshals assist at road crossings and busy sections. A GPX file and printed maps are available; runners must carry a digital route on watch or phone as backup.
Aid provision includes a water only point at 11.9 km and three staffed checkpoints at 17.7 km, 30.8 km and 41.4 km. Checkpoints offer water, cola, Precision Fuel & Hydration products, gels and chews, snacks, flapjacks and fresh fruit. Required kit includes a phone, route GPX plus paper map, waterproof jacket, warm hat and gloves, an extra long sleeve layer, head torch, a refillable hydration system (0.5 L minimum), and payment method. Entries are open without qualifying standards and standard entry is £75 (£73 UKA affiliated); entries close 28 October 2026. Finishers receive a medal, chip timing, on-course medical support and free on-route photos. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
