About the race

The North Chilterns 50K is a 50 km trail race held on 21 November 2026 from Putteridge Bury, Luton LU2 8LE. The course records are not listed here. The route gains approximately 798 m of ascent, is fully marked and is classified as a UTMB World Series index race. Entry is open to runners aged 20 or older, the field is capped at 250 runners and the overall time limit is 8h45. The event is licensed by the Trail Running Association and held under UKA rules.

From the event base runners follow the Chiltern Way towards Lilley, then on to Warden Hill, Barton and the Pegsdon Hills before returning via Offley. Several viewpoints are noted along the route, and the final 12 km include three short climbs.

There are three aid stations with toilet facilities at Arnold Rec, Barton (14.3 km), The View (28 km) and Offley Village Hall (37.2 km). Aid station supplies include water, Coke, Precision Fuel & Hydration electrolyte drink, PF 30 gels and chews, crisps, sweets and fresh fruit.

The event base is Putteridge Bury Country House with indoor registration, toilets and hot drinks. All runners must carry a digital route on watch or phone and required kit including a waterproof jacket, headtorch, refillable hydration of at least 0.5 L, mobile phone, warm hat and gloves, foil blanket and cash or card. The route GPX is available and the course will have orange arrow markers, ribbons, marshals and course checkers. Chip timing, medical cover, bag drop and onsite parking are provided.
