North Chilterns 50K
The North Chilterns 50K is a trail ultramarathon of 50.3 km with approximately 725 m+ of ascent, held from an event base at Putteridge Bury in Luton, Bedfordshire. The event is scheduled for 21 November 2026 and is licensed by the Trail Running Association and held under UKA rules. It is a UTMB World Series index race in the 50K category.
The route follows sections of the Chiltern Way and visits several prominent viewpoints including Warden Hill and Barton and Pegsdon Hills. The course is fully marked with orange arrows and ribbons and is supported by marshals at key points. There are four official checkpoints at St Nicolas Church, Barton (14.5 km), Pirton Village Hall (23.6 km) and Offley Village Hall on two occasions (35 km and 43.4 km). Aid stations provide water, Coke, an electrolyte drink, gels and chews, crisps, sweets and fresh fruit, with sandwiches available from the second checkpoint onwards. This is a cupless race; runners should bring a soft cup or bottle if they wish to take fluids.
Entry is limited to 250 runners and the race has a 9 hour overall time limit. The event base offers indoor registration, toilets and hot drinks, plus free onsite parking, bag drop, chip timing with live results and course medical support. Runners must carry mandatory kit at all times, including a phone, route map on watch or phone, waterproof jacket, headtorch, refillable hydration (0.5 L min), cash or card, warm hat and gloves and a foil blanket.
