About the race
Run The Forest is a winter trail event in Rotorua that follows geothermal areas and redwood forest trails. The event presents three course options for participants to run, jog or walk, and includes on-course entertainment and a finish-line festival with live music, beverages and blankets.
The route sections pass notable geothermal features such as steam vents, bubbling mud pools and hot springs, and travel through towering redwood trees and manuka-lined trails. One course begins near the Pohutu Geyser area and showcases a mix of geothermal landscape and diverse forest.
The event is positioned as a winter weekend activity and notes nearby spa and hot pool facilities for relaxation. The atmosphere described includes festival and party vibes with music, food and finish-line amenities.
Distances:
- 7 km Redwoods trail, passing redwood trees and sulphur flats
- 10 km Geothermal traverse, through steaming pools and manuka-lined trails
- 21 km Pohutu Geyser trail, the longest course featuring geothermal and forest landscapes
