About the race
The Rotorua Off Road Half Marathon takes place in Whakarewarewa Forest, with event headquarters at the Waipa Recreation Area. The event programme offers several off-road distances that follow pine-needle trails, forest roads, the Lion Trail and sections of the Pohaturoa Walking Track, passing historic mud pools, bridges and forest vistas.

- 21.1 km two laps of a 10.5 km circuit
- 10.5 km one lap of the Waipa course
- 5.5 km
- 3 km kids fun run
- 2 km kids fun run
Course support includes 4 aid stations on the 21.1 km route and 2 aid stations on the 10.5 km loop; shorter events have an aid station at the finish line. All finishers receive a medal. Merit prizes are awarded to the first three male and female finishers in the half marathon, 10.5 km and 5.5 km events; spot prizes are drawn at prize giving. Minimum ages apply by distance: 16 years for 21.1 km, 12 years for 10.5 km and 5 years for 5.5 km. A 10.5 km Teams Challenge scores teams by the combined placings of their first three members. The organiser publishes entry fees, withdrawal and transfer rules, and course maps; entrants receive race confirmation and a timing transponder at registration.
