Rocky Mountain Slam, Logan, UT, September 24, 2027
The Rocky Mountain Slam event in Logan, Utah is scheduled for September 24, 2027 at 1400 E. 350 S. This date corresponds with the Bear 100, which serves as the mandatory final race of the Rocky Mountain Slam series.
Registration for the 2027 Rocky Mountain Slam opens January 1, 2027 and remains open through mid-July.
The Rocky Mountain Slam began in the early 2000s as a regional series focused on long mountain ultramarathons. Early editions centered on Hardrock, Leadville, Wasatch, and the Bear; Bighorn 100 was added in 2003. Over time the series format and lineup changed. Hardrock and Leadville became harder to enter, which reduced annual finishers after 2014. In 2019 Ouray 100 substituted for Hardrock when Hardrock was not held. The series was not held in 2020 because of COVID-19. In 2022 the organizers announced a revised format called Rocky Mountain Slam V2.0. Scout Mountain 100 was added in 2024. In 2026 High Lonesome 100 and Crazy Mountain 100 were added; in 2026 Ouray 100 was cancelled due to fires and alternate options were offered to affected runners.
Under RMS V2.0 runners must complete at least four races, with The Bear 100 required. Optional races include Scout Mountain 100, Bighorn 100, Hardrock 100, Leadville 100, Wasatch Front 100, Ouray 100, Wyoming Range 100, High Lonesome 100, and Crazy Mountain 100. The series does not keep a formal overall time record; an informal summation of a runner's fastest four runs, including The Bear, is noted. The series requires registration of runners who intend to compete to cover organizational costs and provide an award. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
