About the race
The Race to the Top of Mt. Umunhum is a point to point Half Marathon held on Saturday, March 6, 2027, that starts at the Hacienda Entrance of Almaden Quicksilver County Park in San Jose, CA and finishes near the summit of Mt. Umunhum.
The course covers 13.35 miles with a total ascent of 4,767 feet and uses colored course markings, cones, and signs. Toilets are available at the start area, at all aid stations, and at the finish. Aid stations are located along the route, including the Woods Parking Lot aid station at mile 5.3 and the Mt. Umunhum and Barlow Trail intersection at mile 9.9.
Course ribbons are pink for most sections, but there is a 1.8 mile section on the Barlow Trail from mile 8.2 to mile 9.9 where no ribbons are placed; runners should follow signage to the next aid station. Race bibs use black numbers on a yellow background. Registration fees for the Half Marathon are listed as $100 in advance and $110 in person on race day. Entry fees are non refundable, but registration may be transferred to a future Troy’s California Trail Runs event if arranged at least 24 hours before the event.
Volunteers are needed for aid stations and receive a free future race credit. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
