Event Overview
The Osprey Ambler is a running event held in Osprey Park, located in Sultan, Washington. Organized by the Sky Valley Trail Runners Association, the event takes place on a course consisting of smooth, dirt single track trails. The layout features minimal elevation change and utilizes a loop approximately 1.06 miles in length.
Course Details
The route begins at a shelter and passes the corner of the local play fields before entering the wooded areas of the park. The trails follow the north and west sides of the park along the banks of the Sultan River, where salmon may be visible during their spawning season. The path concludes by returning through the woods to reach the aid station and finish area at the shelter. The course remains subject to modification based on local conditions.
Participation Options
Participants can choose between timed formats or a specific distance goal:
- 6 Hours: Run as many laps as possible within the six hour limit.
- Marathon: Complete the specific number of laps required to total a marathon distance.
- 3 Hours: Run as many laps as possible within the three hour limit.
Purpose and Organization
The Sky Valley Trail Runners Association, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, manages the event. All proceeds from the race are dedicated to the maintenance and improvement of trail networks within the Skykomish River Valley, or are donated to Snohomish County Volunteer Search and Rescue, Inc.
