Lord Hill Billy Trail Run
Lord Hill Billy Trail Run is a trail race held at Lord Hill Regional Park in Snohomish, WA, with multiple distance options and significant elevation changes. The courses start and finish near the Snohomish River at the south end of the park and run through forest, wetlands, and mixed trail types.
- 5K, 590 feet elevation gain
- 10K, 1115 feet elevation gain
- Half Marathon, 2380 feet elevation gain
The loop course includes a very steep section of the Pipeline Trail that ascends from the quarry, followed by a gentler descent back toward the start/finish area. The park rises over 650 feet from the river banks and the routes exploit that elevation difference; the courses are described as moderately hilly by trail running standards. Trails include a mix of wider and narrower paths and some newer single-track sections; most trails are not extremely twisty though some parts have more turns.
Aid and gear details vary by distance: the 5K has no aid station; the 10K has one fully stocked aid station at 3.3 miles; the half marathon has two fully stocked aid stations at 3.3 and 7.8 miles. Aid stations provide water, electrolyte drink, and a selection of carbohydrate or salty foods such as cookies, chips, fruity candy, fig bars, and bananas. Organizers provide a tarp and tent for personal gear.
The event is USATF sanctioned and the trails remain open to other users, including horseback riders and mountain bikers. Dogs are not allowed on the course. The event offers a youth runner discount for participants under age 20, equal to 15 percent or ten dollars off online pre-registration prices, whichever is greater.
