Bayley's Orewa Beach Fun Run
Bayley's Orewa Beach Fun Run is organised by Orewa College Alumni & Friends for Ōrewa College and takes place on Orewa Beach. The event offers timed and untimed options on courses run entirely on sand at low tide, with no roads or footpaths on the route.
Distances
- 2.5 km run or walk on sand following a marked out-and-back course.
- 5 km run or walk on sand following a marked out-and-back course.
Participants choose a Race or Fun start group at entry. Competitive start groups line up at the front while Fun groups start later. All runners must wear a numbered race bib. The first 1,000 finishers receive a finisher medal. The Ōrewa College Kapa Haka group opens the event and a sausage sizzle is provided after the run.
The course route stays to the left side of the beach, follows marked turnaround flags, and finishes through an archway at the seaside finish line. The event aims to reduce waste by encouraging participants to bring a filled water bottle and take home what they bring.
All event profits are returned to Ōrewa College to support the school and its students. Sponsors include Bayleys Real Estate and several local organisations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
